A legacy consists of the gratuitous transfer made by the testator of a specific asset or an asset capable of being specified, which may consist of a thing or a right, in favor of a person.
The person who receives the legacy is called a legatee. If they pass away before effectively receiving the legacy, they transmit their right to their heirs.
